Youth Public Forum

The City of Mount Vernon and Cities United, a nationwide organization that works to strengthen cities and keep citizens safe, are hosting a Youth Public Safety Forum at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. The event is open to ages 10 to 24. 

 Building Configuration Follow-Up Survey

In an effort to reach the most stakeholders possible, the Mount Vernon City School District is introducing a focused follow-up building configuration survey. Please let us know how you feel about changing the configuration of our buildings. The District has recorded the thoughts of the community, and we hope that you will continue to share your opinions as we approach a decision.

BTA Rhythm and Rhyme

Benjamin Turner Academy will host "A Black History Celebration: Rhythm and Rhyme" in recognition of Black History Month on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 6 p.m. The performance will feature singing, dancing, step and more.

Financial Literacy Night

The Family and Community Engagement Committee is holding their Family Fun Financial Literacy Night on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. Attend to learn more about family budgeting, insurance, setting goals, buying a house, starting a business and more. The theme of the event, which is on Pi Day, is "Managing Your Piece of the Pi."

MVHS Paris students

At the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2024, the Mount Vernon City School District said ‘Bon Voyage!’ to 18 Mount Vernon High School students who are going to Paris. Students departed on their plane to France on Friday, February 16.
